What to Wear for Senior Pictures

One of the first questions I get from seniors when planning their session is, "WHAT DO I WEAR?!"  As a senior myself, I am even stressed out about choosing outfits for my pictures.  I totally get the struggle, so I thought I would share some of the advice I give to seniors when helping them get some fashion inspiration.

1. Get some inspiration.
When choosing a location, I always ask my seniors the vibe that they want.  It's the same for outfits, too.  Checking out Pinterest and Instagram to sort of get an idea of the look you're going for is super helpful.  I made a Pinterest board that you can check out (and follow too if you want, wink wink) as a place to start!

2. Think of how your outfit(s) will look at the location.
This is super important.  You want the outfit(s) that you're wearing to "fit" with the location you choose.  For example, if you chose a desert location, maybe choose a flowy, white dress or top.  The bright white will stand out against the earthy tones.  Avoid wearing colors that will just blend into the background, but also consider coordinating with the colors of your location.

3. Don't be afraid to reach for a fun color!
If there's a color that you absolutely love yourself in, GO FOR IT!  I always love when seniors show up in fun colors.  It adds such a fun pop to your pictures, especially if the colors of your location are pretty neutral.  You don't want the color to be too overpowering, so also consider how the color will tie in with the background.

4. Wear a fun dress!
For at least one of your outfits, I would advise wearing a dress.  If you aren't a dress type of gal, go for a flowy or loose top.  I love the movement of a flowy dress or top in pictures!  Plus, shots in a dress are always a mom's favorite.

5. Wear something trendy, but not too trendy.
You want to look cute and trendy, but you also don't want to look back in a few years and think, "What the heck was I wearing?", either.  Wear something timeless that you know (or think) will always be fashionable.

6. Be sure to include a college shirt in the outfits you choose.
If you are going to college, definitely wear a shirt for the school you will be attending for at least a few shots!

7. When in doubt, wear black or white.
White always looks gorgeous with golden hour light and black is super flattering and classic.

8. Be comfortable and be yourself!
If you don't feel comfortable in your outfits, choose something else!!! The more comfortable you feel, the more confident you will be getting your pictures taken!

I hope these tips helped, and I'm so excited to see the outfits you pick for your session!

xx,
Macey
